Mehrdad (Mohsen) Karimkhani, born in 1962, graduated with a degree in Painting.
He began his professional painting practice shortly after completing his studies and continued for several years. In his mid-thirties, following an episode of psychosis, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and began treatment. He subsequently endured a prolonged and challenging period marked by psychological distress and difficult living conditions. Approximately a decade ago, he moved permanently into a residential care facility, where, after establishing a relatively stable life, he resumed painting with renewed dedication and consistency.
Since then, many of his works have been acquired by art enthusiasts around the world. In 2015, a solo exhibition of his work was held at a café-gallery, where it received a warm response from visitors.
His artistic practice spans portraiture, nature, and imagined, often surreal environments that reflect different periods of his life. He works with a variety of materials and techniques, allowing his artistic expression to evolve across diverse themes and visual approaches.
