Farzaneh Afshar (born 1989) is a painter with a B.A. and an M.A. in Painting.
Her paintings move between landscape and subjective experience. Natural forms, figures, and architectural elements shift away from familiar settings to create spaces between reality and imagination. Through color, altered scale, and traces of human presence, she explores memory, silence, absence, and suspension.
Her series This Winter was painted during the events it reflects, in the midst of that cold, without the distance of looking back from outside the experience.
